Final Fantasy XV And Kingdom Hearts 3 To Skip E3

by Mike Futter on Jun 06, 2014 at 01:50 AM

Update: Square Enix has confirmed the translation of the Famitsu article. Unfortunately, Kingdom Hearts 3 (except for the piece of the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix trailer) and Final Fantasy XV will not be present at E3.

Original Story:

It looks like we have some bad news for Square Enix fans. News has surfaced that two of the publisher’s most anticipated titles are skipping E3 next week.

Famitsu had the opportunity to interview Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto. During the conversation, Hashimoto says that fans will have to wait until after E3 for more information on Final Fantasy XV. We already know that Square Enix isn't rushing the title.

As for Kingdom Hearts 3, a new trailer will shed a little light on the story, but more details on the title are likely to be further off. We’ve reached out to Square Enix for confirmation and more detail. We’ll update should we receive a response.

Final Fantasy XV, which was formerly under development and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, has had a long development arc. You can read about its long path here. Kingdom Hearts III was announced at E3 last year, fulfilling fan desires for a fully numbered sequel.

Our Take
This is disappointing as a fan of Kingdom Hearts and someone who was very interested in the Final Fantasy XV trailer shown last year. Chin up, Square Enix fans.
