Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs Best In Show With 4 Million Sold In First Week

by Mike Futter on Jun 03, 2014 at 06:12 AM

Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs has broken another company record, selling 4 million units in the game’s first week. More impressively, the game is now top dog amongst new IPs industry wide.

Last week, we reported that Watch Dogs ousted Assassin’s Creed III as the publisher’s best seller on day one. Ubisoft has stated expectations that the game will surpass the first Assassin’s Creed’s lifetime sales of 6.3 million.

Our Take
This is great news for Ubisoft, who is not only pinning its current year financials on the game (and the reputation of those willing to delay Watch Dogs). It also means that Bobby Kotick’s promise to make Destiny the best selling new IP in the industry just got more interesting.
