EA Will Now Sell You Battlefield 4 Battlepacks Via Microtransaction

by Mike Futter on May 27, 2014 at 10:23 AM

Battlefield 4 now has microtransactions. Battlepacks are now available for purchase directly from Origin.com, Xbox Live, and the PlayStation Store.

Packs come in three types (bronze, silver, and gold), with prices set at $1, $2, and $3 respectively. Like earned Battlepacks, the contents are a random assortment of accessories, emblem components, profile pictures, dog tags, knives, paints, and experience boosts.

You can still earn them in the game as normal. The microtransaction option goes live today.

Our Take
I’m just surprised it took EA this long to implement microtransactions in a system that is so obviously ripe for them. Just remember, that if you don’t like them, don’t buy them. Vote with your wallet.
