Diablo III Anniversary Buff Legendary Drop Rate Going Permanent

by Kyle Hilliard on May 21, 2014 at 04:01 PM

As part of Diablo III's recent two-year anniversary, it initiated a temporary buff that increased Legendary drops. That buff won't be going away after the anniversary celebrations end.

In a post on Blizzard's message boards, designer Travis Day wrote the following:

I come bearing exciting news. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our Anniversary buff we have decided to keep the increased Legendary drop rate once the Anniversary celebration ends. Once the buff is disabled tomorrow morning, you will find that the new base line drop rates for Legendary items will be the same as those you have all enjoyed for the last week.

Happy hunting and link the loot!

The buff was originally meant to expire on May 22 at 5:00 a.m. PT, but it looks like that is no longer entirely the case, all to the benefit of Diablo III's players.

Our Take
I received a link to this story from our news editor Mike Futter alongside some very excited, all caps, slightly vulgar words. I told him this is very exciting, but he was probably overreacting, to which he replied – and I quote – "I NEVER OVER REACT." Clearly, this is exciting news for many.
