Demon’s And Dark Souls Director Promoted To President Of From Software

by Kyle Hilliard on May 21, 2014 at 05:47 AM

Hidetaka Miyazaki, director on From Software's  Demon's Souls and Dark Souls (but not the sequel) has been promoted to president of the developer.

The promotion comes as part of executive rearrangements related to the acquisition of From Software by Kadokawa, the Japanese publisher of Lollipop Chainsaw. Demon’s Souls Producer Masanori Takeuchi also has a new title as the new senior managing director.

It's unclear if Miyazaki's new role will move him away from general game design duties.

Our Take
Sometimes a change in roles like this takes developers away from their first love – making games. It's the reason many large developers lose their project leaders so they can go make smaller independent games. Hopefully Miyazaki's new role is just a title that lets him continue to craft worlds.
