by Kyle Hilliard on May 20, 2014 at 06:43 AM

Microsoft has unveiled the latest iteration of its Surface technology with the Pro 3.

The device will be 0.36 inches thick, have a 12-inch screen, and will weigh less than 2 pounds. It will include a 4th-generation Intel Core processor, up to 8 GB of RAM, and up to nine hours of web-browsing battery life. Other upgrades include a new multi-position kickstand that will bend the display to an increased 150-degree angle compared to previous Surface models. The tablet will also include the new Surface Pen, a specialized stylus for use with the device.

Microsoft also has plans to unveil a thinner kepyboard cover with an improved trackpad for the device.

the Surface Pro 3 will be available for pre-order for $799.99 starting tomorrow. The pre-order page isn't up yet, but you can check it out here. For the full technical specs on the device, as well as some of the alternate prices for a few different models, Microsoft has a lengthy document you can download here.

Our Take
Microsoft's Surface has been fighting a difficult battle with Apple's iPad, and the myriad models of Android-based tablets, but it's a quality machine for gaming. I played and reviewed Halo: Spartan Assault on a Surface tablet, and was impressed with the technology. The Surface Pro 3 is more business-focused, but I'm sure gaming will still be an important element.
