Update: Borderlands 2 Vita Cross-Save Feature Now Available

by Mike Futter on May 20, 2014 at 05:33 AM

Update - May 20, 2013: PlayStation's official twitter account confirms that the Vita version of Borderlands 2 now has cross-save functionality with the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

Update - May 16, 2013: Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, has stated via Twitter that he's been informed the PS3/Vita cross-save functionality of Borderlands 2 will be available this coming Tuesday, May 20.

Original Story: If you managed to get one of the new Vita models bundled with Borderlands 2, you may have noticed something missing in the game (and no, we aren't talking about four-player co-op). The handheld version promises cross-save to the PlayStation 3, but that feature is nowhere to be found yet.

The issue was raised in the official Gearbox forums by a number of users. A company representative confirms that a patch will be coming for the game on soon. Given the game hasn't seen wide release yet, that might not be until May 13 when the title is available as a standalone download or retail purchase.

Our Take
This is unfortunate for those hoping to pick up their characters and Badass ranks from the PS3 version and keep playing immediately on their new Vitas. It’ll be dealt with soon enough, but it’s a shame that the statement from Gearbox didn’t come in advance of players loading it up for the first time.
