Akiba's Trip Will Have English and Japanese Audio Tracks

by Joe Juba on May 09, 2014 at 01:50 PM

Xseed has announced that its upcoming title, Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed, features full voice overs in both English and Japanese. That may not seem like a big deal, but since the game is set in Tokyo's Akihabara district, the decision could lend a degree of authenticity to the experience.

Unfortunately, any authenticity gained by the dual audio tracks could easily be nullified by the game's premise. Players control a young man who fights vampire-like creatures called Synthisters. The only way to defeat them is by exposing them to the sun by stripping off their clothes. However it's justified in the story, the end result is that players get to see a lot of male and female anime characters in their underwear.

If that's your thing, you can pick up Akiba's Trip on PS3 and Vita this summer.

Our Take
The number of gamers who are passionate about dual audio tracks may be small when looking at the whole industry, but disproportionately large when looking at the audience for many of Xseed's titles. That makes this a good move on the publisher's part; it's an example of a company smartly catering to its fans.
