Watch Dogs Creative Director Not Directly Involved With Wii U Version

by Mike Futter on May 02, 2014 at 03:48 AM

Despite concerns and speculation earlier this year, the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is still happening. In fact, Ubisoft says that the team is focused on making it ‘the best version it can be.’

In a conversation with Red Bull Games, creative director Jonathan Morin expressed his enthusiasm for the Watch Dogs that will be on Wii U. “We wanted to finish all the platforms that we are currently shipping,” Morin told Red Bull Games. “We needed those guys to get [the shipping versions] finished, and the good news now is that they're all fully focused on the Wii U version, making sure it gets the attention it deserves to make it the best version it can be.”

He says though, that he’s not directly involved with that version. The Wii U version will likely include some, yet to be detailed, function for the Gamepad screen. We’ve reached out to Ubisoft to find out who is guiding that creative vision and how it will integrate with rest of the game experience. Our Take
If it weren’t for the added layer of design required to create a compelling Gamepad experience on the Wii U, this detail wouldn’t be a blip on the radar. However, the best second-screen functions are designed in concert with the rest of the experience. Despite its faults, ZombiU (another Ubisoft title) shows how great second-screen experiences can be when they are woven into the experience.
