Microsoft Bringing The Xbox One To China

by Matthew Kato on Apr 30, 2014 at 02:03 AM

Microsoft and Shanghai home tech company BesTV have announced they are launching the Xbox One in China this September.

The two companies have set up a joint venture in the region called E-Home Entertainment that will work to create, publish, and sell Xbox One games in the country.

Back in January, China lifted its ban on foreign consoles.

Sony hasn't announced its plans for the market yet. Nintendo currently sells the iQue system in the country.

Our Take:
The lifting of the console ban should be big business for all three console manufacturers, and we expect Sony – which historically has sold its systems across the globe – to also jump in. Of course, releasing software specific to the Chinese market will be necessary to success.
