[Update] Amazing Spider-Man 2 May Not Release On Xbox One

by Mike Futter on Apr 17, 2014 at 07:29 AM

Update: An Activision representative has responded to our request for comment on the status of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Xbox One. "We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One," we were told via email. "Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on April 29, 2014 as previously announced.”

Original Story:

If you are planning on swinging through the streets of New York in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 game, your platform options may be slimmed down. Activision has removed the Xbox One box art from its website.

MCV is reporting that the publisher may not release the game at all. “We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One,” a company statement reads. “When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD.”

We’ve reached out to Activision for comment on this and will update should we receive a response. You can check out our most recent preview for more information. Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be out on April 29 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, and PC.

Our Take
Until we know the reasons for this, speculation is likely to run rampant. Before I jump to conclusions about the reasoning, I’ll wait to find out if this is a cancelation, delay, or error.
