Japanese PSone Rarity Hyper Crazy Climber Coming To PSN

by Matt Helgeson on Apr 11, 2014 at 04:46 AM

Monkey Paw Games is bringing the import-only original PlayStation game Hyper Crazy Climber to U.S. gamers for the first time.

Hyper Crazy Climber was released in 1996 for the Japanese PlayStation by Nihon Bussan. It was a sequel of sorts to the 1980 arcade game Crazy Climber. Hyper Crazy Climber used the same simple gameplay design – you literally climb past various creatures and hazards to the top of the level – but added additional environments like mountains and beanstalks to the original game's four buildings.

It was never released in the U.S., but Sony and Monkey Paw are now bringing it to PlayStation 3 and Vita as a downloadable, Cross-Buy title.

Hyper Crazy Climber releases on April 15. For more information, go to the game's official site.

Our Take:
I've never played Hyper Crazy Climber, but I love it when companies bring back obscure titles from video games' past. Monkey Paw also gets love for bringing the excellent Tomba! 2 to PSN back in February.
