Report: Watch Dogs Runs At 1080p On PS4

by Jeff Cork on Apr 10, 2014 at 04:39 AM

Watch Dogs will be running at 1080p on the PlayStation 4, if comments that the game's cinematics animation lead made in a recent studio-tour video hold up.

According to CVG, PC Games shot a video tour of Ubisoft Montreal (which has since been made private), where cinematics animation lead Lars Bonde had a few interesting things to say. First, he said that the current- and new-gen versions of the game were fundamentally the same, as far as gameplay is concerned. Then Bonde spoke of the differences between the game on Sony and Microsoft's new hardware. "We are utilizing Xbox One to its full capabilities and the same with PS4, of course, so I know that, as far as to my knowledge, on PS4 it will run in full HD."

We've reached out to Ubisoft for clarification, and will update the story should we receive additional information. In the meantime, take a look at our extended hands-on preview of the game for details on Watch Dog's first hour and a half.

Our Take
Comparing native resolutions between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of games is becoming a flashpoint of discussion online. Is this something that determines what version of a game to get, or do you find it difficult to tell the difference between something running in 1080p and 720p?
