by Mike Futter on Apr 09, 2014 at 05:52 AM

Today brings sad news that just three days after being inducted to WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 30, Ultimate Warrior, one of most iconic and energetic superstars, has passed away. Born James Brian Hellwig, Ultimate Warrior rose to popularity with the WWE beginning in 1987, maintaining a popular rivalry with Hulk Hogan.

"WWE is shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever," a statement from the organization reads. "Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history."

Ultimate Warrior was featured prominently in WWE 2K14, and we had an opportunity to speak with him in July 2013. During the conversation, he reflected on his career and his legacy, getting emotional at times.

Ultimate Warrior is survived by his wife Dana, his two daughters, and a legion of fans who love and adore him. You can listen to our interview below, conducted alongside writer Scott Burress.
