Five Million People Registered For The Elder Scrolls Online Beta

by Mike Futter on Apr 03, 2014 at 05:32 AM

The Elder Scrolls Online brings fans of Bethesda’s open world RPG series together at long last tomorrow. In celebration of the impending launch, Zenimax Online Studios has shared statistics racked up on the road to release.

More than five million people registered for The Elder Scrolls Online beta, with some even offering their first-born children or a body part in exchange for access. The game sports over 40 million different weapon variations, more than 10,000 NPCs, and 2,235 different books that together account for 480,000 words.

There are 61 million items in the game, but seasoned Elder Scrolls players know to leave the random cups, plates, and candlesticks where they are. The cheese wheels and sweet rolls? Those you might want to pocket.

The Elder Scrolls Online releases on PC and Mac tomorrow, April 4. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will be along this June. Interested in exploring Tamriel with a life-long companion? Our Take
The Elder Scrolls Online is making a go of things with a subscription-based model when most competitors are shifting to free-to-play. Bethesda is confident in its choice, and I’m interested to see how the publisher fares. There was a lot of interest in the (free) beta, but how that will translate into purchases and subsequent subscriptions is a completely different story.
