Sony Survey Asks About PS4 Features

by Matthew Kato on Apr 02, 2014 at 04:40 AM

Sony has sent out a survey to some PlayStation 4 owners inquiring about the attractiveness of potential tweaks and new features.

Among the items the survey references are a user-rating based reputation system, the ability to change your PlayStation user name, advanced matchmaking, chat functionality between your PS4 and other PlayStation platforms (PS3 and Vita are listed), party chat with more than eight people, the ability to be invisible online, and the synchronization of your messages across different PlayStation platforms (again, PS3 and Vita are listed).

The PS4's latest update does not include any of these proposals.

Our Take
Given that Xbox One just upgraded its own reputation system and currently supports more people in its party chat system, it behooves Sony to reach parity. Being able to do this via upgrades could lead to a net-positive arms race between the two systems that ultimately benefits gamers.
