Rockstar Details Spring GTA Online Updates Including Co-Op Heists

by Matt Helgeson on Apr 02, 2014 at 09:41 AM

Rockstar continues to expand and improve Grand Theft Auto Online. Now, the long-awaited co-op heist missions are on the schedule of updates.

In a post on the Rockstar Newswire today, the company detailed some of the new updates we can expect to be implemented in GTA Online throughout the spring. Co-op heists will be added, allowing you to partner with members of your crew or random players to tackle heists together.

Other updates include the Capture Creator, which allows players to create custom Capture jobs with tons of options for pick-ups, weaponry, locations, and other variables. Rockstar will be looking at the best of them for its Rockstar Verified jobs status program.

The High Life update will focus on the luxury end of the Los Santos economy. There will be new fancy apartments, couture clothing, a Bullpup rifle, the Dinka Thrust motorcycle, and three new vehicles, including the Pegassi Zentorno (pictured above). You'll also now have the ability to own two different properties and garages at the same time. Play on, player.

Along with these content updates, there will be a ton of fixes and enhancements both large and small. These include a new "non-contact" race option, which will allow you to disable collisions between cars, increased payouts for completing parachute, race, deathmatch, and LTS jobs, and fixes intended to further curtain any cheating or exploits currently being used in the game.

Our Take
While managing a huge, persistent online game is new territory for Rockstar, it seems to be more than up to the task. So far, it seems like it's listening to the GTA Online community, and approaching the game with the same attention to detail that it's shown in its single-player titles. While there have been some bumps in the road, it's still been - in my opinion - quite an accomplishment.
