Halo 'Digital Feature' On The Way From Alien Director Ridley Scott

by Kyle Hilliard on Apr 02, 2014 at 02:25 PM

Microsoft was quick to squash rumors of a Ridley Scott produced Halo film earlier this year, but a recent announcements reveals there is something in the works.

A brief e-mail from a Microsoft representative announced the project, without revealing many details.

343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios and Scott Free Productions are proud to announce a new "Halo" digital feature project to be released later this year. The project will be executive produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free TV President, David Zucker.  Sergio Mimica-Gezzan ("Battlestar Galactica" "Pillars of the Earth," "Heroes") will direct.

At E3 2013, Microsoft announced a partnership with Steven Spielberg to create a live-action Halo TV show. Microsoft is quick to point out that this project with Ridley Scott's production company is completely separate.

Update: We reached out for more details on the project, to which Microsft replied, “We are not confirming additional information on the project at this time, but will have more to share at E3.” Looks like we'll find out more in a few months.

Our Take
It's a bit unclear exactly what this project will entail. The presumption is that it will be something along the lines of Halo's web series, Forward Unto Dawn. Whatever it is, it has a good pedigree of film makers well-versed in science-fiction, which bodes well for the project.
