OlliOlli Grinding Its Way To PS3 And PS4

by Mike Futter on Mar 24, 2014 at 03:52 AM

After finding solid footing on the PlayStation Vita, OlliOlli developer Roll7 has announced that its skateboarding title will be making an appearance on Sony home consoles. No release date has been announced, but the game will be exclusive to Vita at least until summer 2014.

Following its successful release, members of Sony’s content team in Europe made the recommendation that Roll7 bring the title to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Additionally, the team says that a Vita patch is in the works that will fix a crash bug and “put a smile on people’s faces.”

Our Take
Sony’s approach to indies seems to be about cultivation. At GDC, I heard a similar story from Futurlab, which is currently developing Velocity 2X for PS4 and Vita. Indie developers we’ve talked to have sung Sony’s praises, and that kind of loyalty is how healthy, exclusive libraries are built.
