No Platinum Trophy In Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

by Tim Turi on Mar 17, 2014 at 01:30 PM

Metal Gear Solid fans were upset earlier this year following our report that the main story mission of MGS V: Ground Zeroes can be completed in under two hours. While the game has side missions for players to dive deeper into, the hunt for a Platinum Trophy won't be among them for PS3 and PS4 users.

Series creator Hideo Kojima explained via Twitter that Sony won't allow the prologue chapter to have a Platinum Trophy due to Sony's limitations. "The reason GZ doesn't have Platinum Trophy in PS4 is due to SONY's regulation," Kojima's tweet says. "They won't allow us to have them for non-full price game."

Ground Zeroes arrives on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 tomorrow for $19.99 (digital download) and $29.99 (retail). Digital and retail copies of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version are both priced at $29.99.

Our Take
Konami has an uphill battle ahead of it with MGS V: Ground Zeroes. The fan backlash over the price and length of the main mission, combined with the unprecedented pricing strategy place Ground Zeroes in a tricky spot. Additionally, budget-priced titles like Sony's own Puppeteer ($39.99 new at retail) poke holes in Kojima's tweet.
