Weekend Warrior 3/14/14

by Cameron Koch on Mar 14, 2014 at 02:00 PM

It was a big week for gaming, with two heavily anticipated titles, Titanfall and Dark Souls II, hitting store shelves. A lot of us here will be pouring hours into both this weekend while others fight to finish up South Park: The Stick of Truth. What about you?

Jeff Marchiafava: I made the potential mistake of starting Dark Souls II this week, and am looking forward to putting a bunch of time into it this weekend. Maybe “looking forward” isn’t the right term – I am prepared to putting a bunch of time into it this weekend. My knight is already as dead as you can get in the game, so at least I don’t have to worry about that anymore. Despite its punishing nature, I’m already enjoying Dark Souls II quite a bit – I think I have Stockholm syndrome.

Andrew Reiner: If I don't finish South Park: The Stick of Truth this weekend, I'm probably going to take out my anger on Game Informer's intern group on Monday. I won't physically harm them, mind you, just load up their week with lots of meaningless filing and paperwork. If I get through that game, I'm moving on to Dark Souls II. Of course, Titanfall will be played extensively at night.

Mike Futter: I will be dropping Titans, for sure. But I’ll also be diving into the back catalog to play Infamous 2: Festival of Blood. I love the series, but never got around to playing the DLC. With Infamous: Second Son out next Friday, the time is right to step into Cole’s snazzy pants one last time.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I'm going back to my home town to hang out with some old friends with a couple of key games in mind. I'm bringing Avalon, the table-top game that has invaded my life in the best way, and Game & Wario for the Wii U. Avalon is brilliant (just buy it) and Game & Wario is really smart in that it allows for a handful of games in a party setting that don't require a crap-load of controllers. You only need the one GamePad and you pass it around. Have a good weekend!

Kyle Hilliard: As far as video games go, time will be split between Yoshi’s New Island, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Titanfall. I’m guessing it will be a 5%, 10%, 85% split respectively. Otherwise, it’s nice enough to go outside and not freeze here in Minnesota, so I might do a little bit of that.

Cameron Koch: My family is paying me a visit this weekend, so it looks like I will be cramming in most of my game time (a.k.a. Titanfall time) tonight. Other than that, I’m looking forward to getting out of my apartment now that the weather is actually above freezing.

Tim Turi: This weekend I’ll continue my antics in Titanfall, hopefully rodeo’ing a few big lugs into oblivion and becoming more of a threat myself in my Titan. I also hope to finish up Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 which I’ve been enjoying despite its inferiority to the previous game. If I finish up LoS 2, I plan on diving into the unforgiving world of Dark Souls 2.

Isaac Federspiel: This weekend I’m going to try and finish up South Park: The Stick of Truth so I have a clean plate before Infamous: Second Son comes out. Recent Heroes of the Storm trailers have gotten me itching to revisit the moba-genre, which I’m generally bad at, so I might bite the bullet and prepare for a long League of Legends update. There’s also the chance that I’ll feel the urge to jump into Hearthstone and see what it has to offer now that it’s out of beta.
