Microsoft's Spencer Questions Fanboy Culture, Praises Sony
During a panel at SXSW, Microsoft vice president Phil Spencer questioned the harsh rivalries that exist between proponents of consoles.
The panel was moderated by Spike TV's Geoff Keighley and was a wide-ranging discussion, touching on many subjects relevant to Microsoft's Xbox One strategy. About halfway through, Spencer addressed the company's rivalry with Sony, giving praise to outgoing Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Jack Tretton and revealing that he owns and plays a PlayStation 4.
"There seems to be this natural faction that gets created around what console you own, and then this, I would call it unhealthy dislike, for people who own the other console," said Spencer. "I love the fans that we have, but I don't think being a fan of Xbox does not mean you can't be a fan of something else, or you have to be an anti-fan of some other brand. At least I'm not. I own a PlayStation 4, I play games on a PlayStation 4. I own a Wii U, I play games on my Wii U. I learn a ton from what happens on those other platforms."

It's good to see Spencer taking the high road and realizing that competition among platforms is good for games as as whole. Now, everyone feel free to fight about Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4 in the comments section.
