The lights are on
PlayStation 4 is getting another big indie next month with the release of Mercenary Kings from Tribute Games. The title, which we recently previewed, features expansive maps, weapon crafting, and a throwback 16-bit art style.
Mercenary Kings drops players onto Mandragora Island to rescue a scientist from the evil CLAW army. You can play solo or with up to three friends as you find materials and create new guns and blades.
No price has yet been announced for the title, which is due out on April 1. Given Sony’s track record with indies and PlayStation Plus, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this in next month’s Instant Game Collection lineup.

Our TakeMercenary Kings looks like a blend of Contra and Metal Slug. The crafting elements seem interesting, and there’s some depth to the title that isn’t obvious from its pixelated explosion-filled screenshots.
