Addictive Puzzler Threes Slides To Android

by Mike Futter on Mar 12, 2014 at 09:39 AM

When puzzle title Threes arrived on iOS in February, it captivated and confounded many Game Informer editors. The game’s simple design, clever mechanics, and adorable sound effects make it easy to come back to time and again.

Now, Android owners can let Threes sink its mathematical hooks in deep, thanks to Hidden Variable Studios, which handled the new version. Along with this news, creators Greg Wohlwend and Asher Vollmer have shared some impressive statistics about user play habits.

The highest score right now is 808,989 (making my inability to crack 10,000 terribly embarrassing). Users typically play for 20 minutes at a time, with the average number of games played sitting at 144. Suffice it to say, people seem to really like Threes.

Our Take
If you have the slightest interest in puzzle games, Threes is worth your time (and oh, you will give much of your time to it). It’s one of the best puzzle games I’ve played in years, and Dan pointed out the reasons its a great fit for mobile in his review.
