Titanfall Players With Early Copies Won’t Be Banned

by Mike Futter on Mar 07, 2014 at 02:58 AM

There are few things that are certain in life, but in the video game world there is one thing you can be sure of. Street dates will be broken.

In the past, there has been some fear (especially where Microsoft is concerned) that early players of major releases might find themselves (and their Xbox Live accounts and consoles) banned. Fear not, pilots. If you manage to cajole your way to an early, legitimate copy of Titanfall, your account is safe.

Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella assuaged concern via Twitter last night. “About playing early: We won’t stop or ban legit copies,” he wrote. “It is prelaunch, so there may be interruptions in service as we prep servers.”

If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on an early copy, you can start leveling up, building your burn card decks, and learning the lay of the land. And if you can’t get your hands on a copy? You only have four days to wait before Titanfall arrives on Xbox One and PC. The Xbox 360 version is due on March 25. In the meantime, you can read our recent feature on five reasons to get excited for Titanfall.

Our Take
I’ve appreciated the Respawn’s open communication throughout the run up to Titanfall’s launch. The team was open with fans during the beta, and continues to offer frequent and direct communication. I expect that to continue post-launch, especially if there are server interruptions.
