Jack Tretton Resigns As Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO
Jack Tretton, who has been with Sony Computer Entertainment America since its founding in 1995, has stepped down from his role as CEO. The move comes after the launch of the PlayStation 4, which has sold over six million units to date.
Tretton will leave his role on April 1, 2014. "Working at SCEA for the past 19 years has been the most rewarding experience of my career," Tretton said. "Although I will deeply miss the talented team at SCEA and the passion demonstrated every day by our fans, I'm very excited about starting the next chapter of my career.”
Sony Network Entertainment International executive vice president and chief operating officer Shawn Layden will step into the role. Layden previously served as president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. He also spent eight years at Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios.
