You Won’t See This South Park Censorship Screen In North American Versions

by Mike Futter on Mar 03, 2014 at 02:10 AM

That’s right, Americans and Canadians, this is content that won’t be in your version of South Park. The humorous screen below takes the place of material censored from the European version of the title.

We recently reported on the censorship of the console versions of South Park: The Stick of Truth. The versions releasing this week in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia will (in varying degrees based on territory) be missing minigames and scenes related to alien anal probes.

Ubisoft commented that this was a "market decision." South Park: The Stick of Truth will be out tomorrow for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Our Take
This form of censorship acknowledgement is respectful of the audience. It’s clear that South Park fans want this kind of humor, and giving them something amusing in place of content that might not be acceptable in those territories is better than simply leaving a hole where the material was.
