WWE Network App Out Today For Console And Mobile

by Shin Hieftje on Feb 24, 2014 at 08:50 AM

Wrestling fans looking to view old wrestling videos will be pleased that the WWE Network app is now available on PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360. The subscription-based survey gives access to over a thousand hours of wrestling content to watch on-demand. The video content spans the WWE’s lengthy history, including archived ECW and WCW events. Subscribed viewers also get access to future WWE programming, including every monthly pay-per-view events such as WrestleMania and SummerSlam.

Those looking to hop on the wrestling train for $9.99 per month will need to commit to six months with the service at minimum. Xbox 360 owners will also need to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription to use the app. Xbox One owners will reportedly gain access to the app this summer. The app was developed in partnership with Major League Baseball Advanced Media, has also launched on iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and Roku alongside consoles.

Our Take
A subscription service seems like a forward thinking model for wrestling to move into, but unless they offer some kind of lower tier free package, they're not going to convince non-fans like me to give wrestling a shot. However, I bet wrestling fans who want to watch more programming at a cheap cost couldn't be happier. This subscription model feels like one more blow to TV packages and one more notch in the belt for streaming services and devices.
