Gran Turismo 5 DLC Going Down With The Servers In May

by Kyle Hilliard on Feb 22, 2014 at 07:17 AM

Sony announced in December its plans to shut down the servers for Gran Turismo 5 and a handful of other games. Along with the servers going down for multiplayer, Gran Turismo 5 DLC will also disappear from the PlayStation Network store. If you want to keep your DLC after the servers go down, there are few steps you will need to take to hang onto it.

For the most part, if you've bought DLC for Gran Turismo 5, you won't have to worry about it disappearing forever. The DLC might not be up the online store in the future, but you will still be able to download it as long as it's on your account. The "Paint Pack" and "Racing Gear Pack" are the ones you need to worry about. For the full instructions on how to retain all of the DLC, head here.

The servers go down and the DLC disappears on May 30. If you want to play online, or grab some DLC, you will have to do it before then.

Our Take
It's always disappointing to hear about online modes disappearing into the void of the internet. I still sometimes sigh in disappointment that I can't play Halo 2 online anymore, but I suppose that is the evolution of online gaming. Everyone who is excited about playing Gran Turismo online is likely playing 6 these days, making it difficult to make a case for 5's continued existence.
