X-COM Creator To Kickstart Chaos Reborn

by Matthew Kato on Feb 21, 2014 at 04:29 AM

Julian Gollop, creator of the original X-COM: UFO Defense at Mythos, is preparing to launch a new project via Kickstarter. Chaos Reborn is an update of the ZX Spectrum title Chaos: The Battle of Wizards.

The game, whose Kickstarter campaign starts March 14, is a turn-based tactical title that – similar to Chaos: The Battle of Wizards – features powerful spell casters battling each other in an arena.

Chaos Reborn contains 80 spells, 24 different creatures (including dragons), procedurally generated areas, tons of equipment, multiplayer (including co-op), and more.

For more on the game, check out its website as well as its Kickstarter Prefundia page.

Gollop says that he wants to raise funds in order to complete the game for PC, Mac, and Linux within a year.

Our Take:
We often hear tales of the ZX Spectrum – an 8-bit home computer in the U.K. – and how it fired the imaginations of many developer over there. It's cool to see its legacy carry on with titles like Chaos Reborn. Anyone play The Battle of Wizards?
