Tomba! 2 Coming To PlayStation Network February 18

by Mike Futter on Feb 17, 2014 at 10:33 AM

MonkeyPaw Games is wrapping up a six-week spree of retro releases on PlayStation Network. The final title in the set is the oft-requested Tomba! 2, which is coming to PS3, Vita, and PSP.

Tomba! 2 was originally released in Japan and North America in 1999. Whoopee Camp published it in the former, but Sony Computer Entertainment America was responsible for bringing it to our shores.

MonkeyPaw is responsible for the work to get the 15 year old title in shape for a digital release. The catch is that this is the original, Japanese release of Tomba! 2. In order to aid those of us who don’t speak the language, MonkeyPaw has made available a guide on its website.

The other titles that MonkeyPaw brought over from Japan during its Retro Rush include a Double Dragon fighting game never released in the West, arcade-game-turned-PlayStation-One-title Wolf Fang, and co-op firefighting title The Firemen 2: Pete and Danny.

You can read up on the MonkeyPaw Games Retro Rush here. The first five titles are available on the PlayStation Store now with Tomba! 2 joining them tomorrow.

Our Take
Digital distribution platforms are fantastic for preserving older titles and making them accessible to new audiences (and older ones on new hardware). If this is one of the selling points of PlayStation Now, I’m interested in hearing more.
