The lights are on
In general, video games based on movies are terrible – but there are a few gems. What are your favorites?
We asked the reverse of this question a few months ago with our What's Your Favorite Video Game Movie? discussion. To date, there really haven't been any standout movies based on video game franchises, but there are few video games based on movies that have turned out well. Spider-Man 2 comes to mind when this topic comes up, but another game based on a Marvel film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, also turned out pretty well. It was actually much better than the film. The recent game based The Lego Movie has also received praise,

King kong
Terminal Reality's Ghostbusters was a love letter to 80's kids worldwide and probably my favorite movie-based game ever.
Lord of the Rings Two Towers for Ps2 was a great game. only movie game that translated well to me
I enjoyed the first Amazing Spider-Man game, even though it didn't get great reviews. I can't really think of any others I've enjoyed recently. The Ghostbusters video game that came out a few years ago was pretty great, I had a lot of fun with that one. And lets not forget that there have been a lot of great James Bond games.
A Bug's Life for ps1
Spider Man 2 was amazing, and I always enjoyed the Star Wars: Episode III game.
Peter Jackoson's King Kong.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is my favorite.
Street Fighter the Movie the Game.
Just kidding, Goldeneye and Spiderman two are my biggest. I completely agree on the wolverine movie as well.
I'm struggling to think of stuff that would count here, like I loved the Friday the 13th game. I thought it was a great copy of the movies in that everyone died and Jason was unstoppable(at least for me) I also liked Jaws Unleashed, but I would never say those were good, or in anyway better than the movies they were based on.
Spider-Man 2. By far.
Spider-Man 2 for PS2!!
Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets was a great game for xbox. Also Star Wars III was really fun for gba.
Van helsing the game that came out when the movie did.
Van helsing the game, that came out when the movie did.
Goldeneye is my favorite, but Jurassic Park for the Genesis was a lot of fun.
This is really going to give away my age, but my two favorite games based on movie franchises are as follows: 1)Top Gun (NES). I don't really recall the plot of the game, but I remember playing it for hours and hours. Landing on the air craft carrier was impossible. 2) The Goonies. Actually, I suppose this was supposed to be a direct sequel, but I remember it to be incredibly hard and frustrating. I would play it again just to hear the midi version of "Goonies are good enough". The absolute worst game based on a movie franchise had to have been ET. Man, that game was a special kind of awful. Still have it, though.
Hands down: ET for Atari.
