Lego Star Wars Comes To Mobile With Tiny X-Wings And TIE Fighters

by Mike Futter on Jan 29, 2014 at 11:35 AM

Lego is launching a new line of Star Wars-themed sets. These Microfighter kits aren’t the mammoth weekend projects like the Millennium Falcon or Death Star. They are tiny versions of familiar ships, including an X-Wing, TIE Interceptor, and Star Destroyer.

If Lego were to ever make a console kart racer, I’d expect these designs would feature prominently. The first Lego Star Wars: Microfighter game is a vertically scrolling shooter that takes place on four planets.

Players can choose from the six currently available toy kits: X-Wing, TIE Interceptor, Star Destroyer, Millennium Falcon, Droid ATT, and Clone Tank. Collected studs can be used to upgrade ships and purchase super weapons.

The game is available for iPhones and iPads now for $1.29. The Lego Microfighters sets are $9.99 each and rolling out now.

Our Take
This is a clever use of the licensing agreement between Warner Bros. and Lego. I wasn’t aware of the Microfighters series before hearing about this game, and as a fan of the building sets, I’m interested. I have a soft spot for Tt Games’ work, and I’m more inclined to give this game a try because of the studio.
