Sony Pictures Television Exploring Mobile With First Game Release

by Mike Futter on Jan 23, 2014 at 06:51 AM

Sony Pictures Television has released its first new IP for mobile devices. Suits and Swords combines free-to-play Blackjack and role-playing game mechanics.

Players use traditional Blackjack rules to combat monsters across four different areas. With new loot, players can add magic cards to their decks and equip better gear. The title is available on iOS and Android now.

Our Take
The concept for Suits and Swords reminds me of a poker themed mobile game called Sword and Poker, which blends RPG mechanics with Poker hands. Even if this game isn’t interesting to you, it’s worth noting that company-wide, Sony seems to be pushing more into mobile.

Sony Computer Entertainment has released a Sly Cooper themed game and a match-3 title that interacts with Knack. This could also be a model that Nintendo is looking at following recent comments about exploration of mobile development.
