League Of Legends Championship Series 4 Begins
The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Season 4 has officially begun. League of Legends and Riot Games continue to push the MOBA into the eSports spotlight with the LCS.
LCS matches are streamed live and can be viewed here. If you’d rather check out the action live, tickets are available now for the North American LCS Spring Split (Manhattan Beach, CA) and the European LCS Spring Split (Cologne, Germany) here.
Last year’s LCS season boasted more than 32 million unique viewers, with over 8 million concurrent viewers during the Championships.
Our Take
The popularity of eSports is only going to grow in 2014 as streaming services combine with large in-person events to produce something akin to major sporting events. Expect streaming to continue becoming an even more popular way to consume content of all kinds from movies to eSports events, with events like the LCS highlighting new potential for professional gaming.
