Call of Duty: Ghosts' Onslaught DLC Revealed

by Matthew Kato on Jan 13, 2014 at 03:07 AM

Activision and developer Infinity Ward have announced the first of four DLC offerings for Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it's called Onslaught.

The brand's Instagram page shows a short teaser trailer with the tag: "Something menacing is coming January 28. Get ready for the #onslaught."

Extinction mode will get a new map called Nightfall that comes with some terrifying spiders.

The DLC is expected to retail for $15 on its own, but season pass owners will get it for free. Activision's timed exclusives deal with Microsoft and its systems means that PlayStation and PC owners will have to wait for Onslaught and the other DLC.

Our Take:
As the console generation flips over, it will be interesting to see if Microsoft's timed-exclusive deal with Activision/Call of Duty has been worth the money paid for it. On the one hand, it's a good way to ensure that COD players migrate over to the Xbox One or choose it from the get go. On the other, you could argue that the chances of previous Xbox 360 COD fans bailing on Microsoft now is slim given there are probably a lot of multiplayer gamers who will naturally gravitate to the Xbox One version anyway, since the previous timed-exclusive deal with the 360 has likely already cemented their purchase on the new system.
