14th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards Nominees Announced

by Bryan Vore on Jan 09, 2014 at 08:01 AM

The Game Developers Choice Awards organizers have revealed which games of 2013 made it through the nomination process. The final awards will be presented on March 19 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco during the week-long Game Developers Conference.

The Last of Us, Tearaway, and Gone Home lead the pack with several nominations each, while Nintendo makes a good showing with several of its games in the mix.

As the name suggests, all nominations were submitted by members of the game development industry and the final winners will be selected by the International Choice Awards Network, "an invitation-only organization comprised of leading game creators from all parts of the industry."

Our Take:
Since these awards are voted on by game development industry members, it's the closest awards show format we have to the Oscars. Many press outlets have their year-end awards, including us, but it's always interesting to see what the creators themselves think of each others' projects.
