Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Enhancements Not Coming To PC
Tomb Raider's Definitive Edition was only announced for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but that didn't stop some PC owners from hoping that they'd be getting some of that version's upgrades. According to the game's official FAQ, however, that won't be happening.
One of the biggest draws with the Definitive Edition is the redesigned Lara Croft model, which features Tress FX support for her hair as well as a more expressive face and body that collects sweat, mud, and blood as she progresses through her adventure. That model, as well as the other upgrades in the Definitive Edition will remain a console exclusive, according to the FAQ.
"Will PC users be getting an update that allows them to play with the next-gen Lara model?" reads the pertinent question. "Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was designed and rebuilt from the ground up for next-generation consoles," says the response. "At this time a PC update is not planned."
The FAQ also addresses whether players who purchased the game on the Xbox 360 or PS3 will get a discount if they go for the upgrade (they won't).
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on January 28 for a suggested price of $59.99.
Our Take
This is disappointing for PC owners, though they can hang onto a morsel of hope in the words "At this time" and "not planned." In the meantime, perhaps this response will inspire modders to get to work.
