New FX Animated Comedy Chozen Premiering On Xbox One First

by Kyle Hilliard on Jan 05, 2014 at 10:52 AM

FX's upcoming new animated comedy series Chozen airs on the network on January 13, but it will be available to watch on Xbox One a week early starting tomorrow.

Much like HBO GO, a cable subscription that includes FX is necessary in order to take advantage of the early access. You will have to download the FXNOW app for your Xbox One in order to watch the show early, which is currently available on the console's app store.

Chozen comes from the minds that created FX's Archer and HBO's Eastbound & Down, and follows the exploits of gay white rapper Chozen as he attempts to become the world's top rap artist. You can find out more about the show by checking out a video interview with Bobby Moynihan below, who voices the show's titular character.

Our Take
From the Xbox One's initial announcement, it has been pushed as a multimedia device sold as a product for television, movies, and video games. Premiering a new show on the console before the network even shows it on TV is pretty compelling evidence that the Xbox One truly is a multimedia device. I'm still not sure if that's what consumers want from their video game console, but Microsoft is doing a good job and making sure that it's an option. I'm curious how this early premiere will affect the future popularity of Chozen, and whether other networks will try premiering their new shows on Xbox One as well.
