Steam Holday Sale Day 14: Chaos, Conquest, And Kombat

by Mike Futter on Jan 01, 2014 at 06:49 AM

Today we learn that alliteration is about the sound the letter makes and not the letter itself. Also, there are some great deals, especially if you've had your eye on budgeting software. Yes, we're serious.

Today's daily sale offers up eight games and a highly regarded piece of personal finance software.

  • Castle Story - $13.39 (Regularly $19.99)
  • Civilization V - $7.49 (Regularly $29.99)
  • HammerWatch - $3.39 (Regularly $9.99)
  • Just Cause 2 - $2.99 (Regularly $9.99)
  • Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition - $10.19 (Regularly $29.99)
  • Test Drive Unlimited 2 - $4.99 (Regularly $19.99)
  • Valdis Story: Abyssal City - $3.74 (Regularly $14.99)
  • The Walking Dead Season 2 - $18.74 (Regularly $24.99)
  • You Need A Budget - $14.99 (Regularly $59.99)

During most sales, related items like DLC and collections are equally discounted. This is the case with Civilization V, for instance. Note that as of publication, the Just Cause Collection is considerably more expensive than purchasing items a la carte.

Adding Just Cause, Just Cause 2, and the sequel's seven pieces of paid DLC to your cart yields a price of $6.11. The collection is still listed at $14.99. Don't forget that yesterday's deals are active through 12:59 PM Eastern tomorrow.

Our Take
I had my fingers crossed that Just Cause and its related content would drop even lower. $2.49 for Just Cause 2 is one of the most impressive deals of the entire sale.

Alternatively (or in addition), The Walking Dead Season 2 is discounted. All five episodes (of which the first has been released) for under $20 is the best price you're likely to see for a while.
