Sleeping Dogs Now Free For Xbox Live Gold Members

by Mike Futter on Jan 01, 2014 at 01:50 AM

Microsoft has announced January’s Games with Gold lineup. The first of the two titles goes live on New Year’s Day.

From January 1 through January 15, 2014, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to download United Front Games’ Sleeping Dogs. This open world crime drama features action on both sides of the law as detective Wei Shen goes undercover in the streets of Hong Kong.

From January 16 through January 31, 2014, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a co-op puzzle platformer, will be free. In order to download the games, you’ll need to be an Xbox Live Gold member. Once you have them though, they are yours, regardless of ongoing membership status.

Our Take
This is the most impressive Xbox Live Games with Gold month yet. Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic experience, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was a breath of fresh air in the series darker times (before the reboot). Keep this up, Microsoft, and people might just start warming up to your free game program. Here's hoping some of the DLC goes on sale (especially for us Legacy of Kain fans).
