The lights are on
EA and Battlefield 4 developer DICE have broadcast an alert warning players of connectivity issues across platforms. The news comes after a week of widespread online service brownout and blackout periods.
Battlefield 4 has suffered from a variety of problems, including lost single-player and multiplayer progress, connectivity issues, and crashes. Additionally, EA has yet to respond to our request for information about problems bringing DLC across generations within the same console family.
The official Battlefield twitter account posted that pre-order bonuses would carry across consoles. EA’s own support staff have demonstrated that is not the case when questioned by users experiencing problems.
Earlier this month, DICE posted an “issue tracker” to advise players of the status of the game’s 22 largest problems. To date, nine of those have still not been fully repaired on all platforms. Seven have not progressed past the “investigation” stage. EA is currently selling the $15 China Rising DLC pack and the $50 Premium membership (on top of the $60 retail purchase price).

Our TakeBattlefield 4 launched on October 29, 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. It arrived on November 15 for PlayStation 4 and November 22 for Xbox One.
It will no doubt be next year before EA and DICE have a fully functioning product, if ever. This is not acceptable. Furthermore, EA’s silence on the DLC/pre-order bonus issue we brought to the company’s attention on December 21 betrays a promise the company made to it’s most loyal fans.
I actually got my money back from MS for my Premium purchase. I kind of wish I would have asked for my money back on the game as well. After the last patch it's been working pretty good, but I wasn't able to connect all weekend which has put me off of the game again.
In all seriousness, the game needed another solid 3 months in the oven. I'm not one of those "I deserve something free because I'm butthurt" types of people at all, but I really hope EA tosses everyone that bought the game something decent for all of the wasted time with the game so far just trying to play it.
I'm sick of it! Before EA screws up the Battlefield brand anymore, this is what needs to be done. EA needs to issue a massive recall of all BF4 games from the stores. Then they need to finish the game properly and re-release it!! People who have already purchased BF4 can bring there copy of the game into any retailer and exchange it for the new version of the game! Problem solved fans happy!! Yes this would cost a lot of money, but so will all the lawsuits! Hey EA pull your head out your a$$ and give us what we paid for!!
We all need to start a kickstarter campaign so we can make commercials, billboards, ect. to inform the masses of EA and it's business practices!
When Homefront came out there was a bug that prevented me and many others from even playing the game at all until 2 weeks later when an update was finnaly released. It was a $64 paper weight until then. When they patched it I played it until it became too boring. I've gotten used to game products shipping with issues and needing updates. This has been the norm it seems in some PC games and the trend is trickeling down to console games(albeit console games that were once only PC games). As bad as the issues may be for some( I am having none myself) I don't think they can be as bad as what was wrong with Aliens:Colonial Marines were.
Yeah, this totally sucks for people that wanted a finished product. I'm curious about the current sales numbers, as I can't seem to locate them...
It seems that no matter how often this fiasco occurs with EA games (Sim City, anyone?), the company can continue to release unfinished games because people will continue to BUY them. EA's got their market figured out. Advertise the crap out of your games, highlight the graphics and the online multiplayer, and it doesn't even matter when you release the game. All you need are TV spots on Comedy Central and high reviews from po***r websites. Hell, they could probably be upfront with everyone and say "When this game launches, it will not be finished. Players will need to download numerous patches in order to play the game consistently over the next few months." People would STILL pay over $60 to play the game.
Hey, at least the trailers were pretty, right? Sweet graphics, bro.
Is putting out a non-functioning mess to compete with Call of Duty really that important. Loved Bad Company can't stand these new Battlefield garbage.
I've experienced many of the issues listed and I know I should be angrier but when bf4 is running smoothly *** its a blast lol
EA should give us free bf4 dlc cuz all the bs
Yeah, you take forever to fix problems that everyone complains about and try to fix things nobody wants ....making the game worst like setting up a time limit for games like rush, conquest and obliteration, games modes that now last 20 minutes that usually take about an hour to complete. Fu** you EA and Dice, im not buying any more of your crap...
If EA would ditch the stupid browser and Origin, and put their games on Steam using Steamworks, they would eliminate most of their issues. Of course, that will never happen, and I will continue avoiding EA titles until they are marked down to $9.99 or less.
Lol.. This is getting so bad, it's actually comical... And yes I have a paperweight, err, I mean copy, of the game.
I'm still holding off on buying premium because I want to see if they discount it. Remember Bad Company 2 when you got all the DLC for free if you bought the game new with the VIP pass? That's a good way to get people to buy new...
This was going to be the year I finally bought a Battlefield game (outside of Bad Company) but the bad single-player reviews made me wait and now the multi-player issues is the nail in the coffin for me. There are too many other games out there to keep waiting for this one to get fixed... peace out Battlefield, maybe BF5 will do better.
This is indeed really ***. People got screwed. But it still sucks that EA is gonna inevitably get worst company again. There are SO many worse.
