The lights are on
EA and Battlefield 4 developer DICE have broadcast an alert warning players of connectivity issues across platforms. The news comes after a week of widespread online service brownout and blackout periods.
Battlefield 4 has suffered from a variety of problems, including lost single-player and multiplayer progress, connectivity issues, and crashes. Additionally, EA has yet to respond to our request for information about problems bringing DLC across generations within the same console family.
The official Battlefield twitter account posted that pre-order bonuses would carry across consoles. EA’s own support staff have demonstrated that is not the case when questioned by users experiencing problems.
Earlier this month, DICE posted an “issue tracker” to advise players of the status of the game’s 22 largest problems. To date, nine of those have still not been fully repaired on all platforms. Seven have not progressed past the “investigation” stage. EA is currently selling the $15 China Rising DLC pack and the $50 Premium membership (on top of the $60 retail purchase price).

Our TakeBattlefield 4 launched on October 29, 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. It arrived on November 15 for PlayStation 4 and November 22 for Xbox One.
It will no doubt be next year before EA and DICE have a fully functioning product, if ever. This is not acceptable. Furthermore, EA’s silence on the DLC/pre-order bonus issue we brought to the company’s attention on December 21 betrays a promise the company made to it’s most loyal fans.
There are breaks in this world, and BF4 isn't catching them.
I'm really trying not to trade this game in, but at this rate that's exactly what I might do.
Seems fitting that EA started the year by releasing a broken PC game in Simcity that they end the year with a broken game to all platforms.
It's sad to see that EA caused all this by wanting the game out WAY before it was even remotely ready to go out the door. When it's working, the game performs rather well and is fun, but with all the issues of server crashing and connectivity issues, the game is ruined. I really wish someone other than EA was the publisher for the franchise.
I've made it halfway through single player three times and had my save gone when I tried again later. Multiplayer has been an unplayable mess. At this point if I could return it and get my money back, I would.
Sounds to me like most of the issues revolve around consoles. Not saying PC doesn't have its problems either but other than the occassional crash I've rarely had the catastrophic issues everyone on next gen seems to be experiencing. Hope it gets fixed for you folks soon, the game is a blast!
