Painkiller: Hell And Damnation Studio Announces Get Even

by Mike Futter on Dec 23, 2013 at 08:07 AM

The Farm 51, developer behind Painkiller: Hell and Damnation and Deadfall Adventures has announced a new project slated for release in 2015. “Game developers are planning to remove the artificial boundary between single and multiplayer modes, offering their unique combination,” a post on the studio’s website (translated from Polish using Google) says.

The multiplayer is said to integrate into the single-player experience, as players work in opposition to each other to get through the story. Get Even is anticipated for release on PC and next-gen consoles. No publisher has picked up the project yet.

Our Take
The Farm 51 is up front about not trying to compete with the titans of the FPS genre. While this is smart for setting expectations, too much self-defeat in the promotional material may turn off an player base interested in what the studio is trying to do. Also, they might want to revisit the lead character design. I'm not sure what Joel from The Last of Us is doing in it.
