Diablo III Reaper Of Souls Out March 25, 2014

by Mike Futter on Dec 19, 2013 at 05:55 AM

Diablo III’s first expansion has a release date. March is already a crowded month, but we trust that you’ll make room for the Crusader, a revamp of the loot system, and all new end-game content.

Reaper of Souls is available for pre-purchase in physical and digital versions. The standard edition will run dungeon crawlers $39.99. The digital deluxe edition ($59.99) comes with an exclusive helm and transmogrification recipes, a spectral hound pet, three more character slots, a treasure goblin pet for World of Warcraft, and StarCraft II crusader portrait and Malthael decals.

A physical collector’s edition has all of the above deluxe edition bonus items, a hardcover art book, a two-disc blu-ray and behind the scenes DVD set, and a mouse pad featuring new villain Malthael. The retail price on this collector’s edition is $79.99.

No release date has been announced for the PlayStation 4 version of Diablo III, called the Ultimate Evil Edition. That version will come with the new Reaper of Souls content and allow PlayStation 3 Diablo III players to move their characters over to the new version.

Our Take
Everything I’ve seen about Reaper of Souls has me excited about diving further into Diablo III. I’ve loved the console translation of the controls, and I’m torn between continuing on the PlayStation 3 (and eventually PlayStation 4) or returning to the PC to play Reaper of Souls earlier.
