GTA Online Update Arrives Tomorrow, Adds New Modes

by Kyle Hilliard on Dec 17, 2013 at 02:33 PM

Grand Theft Auto Online will be receiving a new update tomorrow that adds new multiplayer Capture modes, among other additions and technical fixes.

You can see the full, extensive breakdown of all the modes and additions on Rockstar's website. Capture is similar to capture the flag, but with a GTA flair. Raid, Hold, GTA, and Contend are subset modes of Capture, and task players with collecting and protecting packages.

The update also fixes bugs, and changes some of the balancing. For that full list, head here. For the most part, overall, more money will be handed out for better performances in racing and missions. The patch also addresses a bug that players were using to reach North Yankton, the snowy town you visit on a few occasions during the game's single player campaign, as well as an exploit players were using to clone cars.

GTA Online version 1.08 will be available tomorrow.

Our Take
After a difficult launch, GTA Online seems to be in full swing. Instead of delivering fixes to make it all work, Rockstar seems to be focusing on making sure things remain balanced and fair. With the game working properly, I'm excited to see what the future holds for GTA's open-world play.
