First Close-Up Photos Of The Steam Box Appear Online

by Kyle Hilliard on Dec 15, 2013 at 07:20 AM

Lucky beta testers have begun to receive their Steam Boxes in the mail. We've seen an unboxing video, and now high-quality close-up photos of Valve's living room console are showing up on the Internet.

The photos included here come from Reddit user colbehr. The photos, of which there are many more beyond the three posted here, appear in an imgur gallery linked to Reddit, which you can see here. The close-ups cover everything included in the box, the paperwork, close-ups of the shipping box, as well as the assorted ports on the back of the hardware.

Earlier this year, Valve unveiled its controller and the SteamOS, pushing forward its long stated goal of bringing PC gaming into the living room.

Our Take
As I mentioned in our post with the unboxing video, it's exciting to see these things tangibly existing beyond Internet rumors. Valve maintains its quality by only releasing things when they're ready, which means we don't see much from the former game developer, now ambiguous scientific video game laboratory/mysterious chocolate factory. I can't wait to try out the Steam Box myself.
