The lights are on
Namco Bandai today confirmed the next game in the Tales Of series. Tales of Zestiria will be coming to PlayStation 3 worldwide in 2015 to coincide with the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
The title will take place in a fantasy setting, with involvement from all four series character designers (Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura, and Minoru Iwamoto). 2014 will see the release of Tales of Symphonia HD (compiling two related installments) and Tales of Xillia 2. Both of these will appear only on the PlayStation 3.
Our TakeI’ve not played a Tales game yet, but Kim Wallace is strongly nudging me toward the Tales of Symphonia HD collection when it comes out next year on Februrary 25. I’ve enjoyed her RPG spotlight on the series and recommend it for those interested in learning more about the franchise.
I'm not sure why Namco is choosing to develop Zestiria for PlayStation 3 and why the series hasn't gone multiplatform. Both decisions seem like money left on the table for a 2015 title.
