GOG Giving Away Three Fallout Games Right Now

by Mike Futter on Dec 12, 2013 at 02:36 AM

GOG is kicking off its winter sale in a big way. For the next 48 hours (ending at 8:59 AM Eastern on December 14), three classic Fallout games are yours for absolutely no charge, provided you have a (free) GOG account.

Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics are included in the bundle. These are DRM-free versions (just like all GOG titles). Additionally, GOG has recently instituted a 30-day money back guarantee.

GOG promises that if within 30 days of purchase the title has game-breaking bugs or there are other technical problems, the purchase will be refunded. The game will be removed from your library and the full purchase price returned to the buyer. The guarantee extends to DLC and even gifts received from others, though the latter will get you a game of equal or lesser value rather than cash.

The sale runs through December 29 (though the guarantee is a permanent policy), with new deals popping up daily. During the event, users can open one of three boxes each day that might have a free game or deep discount. The packages are split up into classics, newer titles, and random games. You can check out the sale at GOG’s website.

Our Take
With Wasteland 2 now in beta for Kickstarter backers, now’s a great time to catch up with Fallout titles (Fallout is the spiritual successor to the original Wasteland). Be warned that Fallout and (especially) Fallout 2 are as unforgiving as the post-nuclear wasteland the games are set in.
