Weekend Warrior 12/06/2013

by Isaac Perry on Dec 06, 2013 at 01:00 PM

This weekend, GI editors look forward to jumping between worlds and check back on this season’s titles that they might have missed. We interns look back on our favorite games, which – thanks to the weather – all involve an excess of fire.

Tim Turi: I just finished playing the fun little 2D digging game SteamWorld Dig, and I think I’m ready for something faster paced. This weekend will probably be filled with Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer and some four-player co-op Super Mario 3D World. Also hoping to pick back up The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and knock a few more dungeons in Lorule. We are drowning in awesome games and I absolutely love it.

Kyle Hilliard: I have been working my way through A Link Between World’s Hero mode. I died more during the first two dungeons than I did during the entirety of my initial playthrough, but I am really enjoying it. Aside from that, I installed Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Xbox One, and I would like to get started on that. The plan was to play Zelda while it was installing, which I did, but then I never started Call of Duty and just kept playing Zelda.

Joe Juba: I can't put down A Link Between Worlds, so I'm probably going to be hopping back and forth between Hyrule and Lorule for most of the weekend. I also have a review game nice and early for an upcoming issue, so I'm also going to a head start on that.

Kimberley Wallace: I haven’t been able to put down NBA2K14 or FIFA 14; this has been a problem when it comes to exploring other games. This weekend I’ll still play both, but I want to dive deeper into Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Dead Rising 3. I have six spots cemented for my personal top ten this year with many games right on the brink of getting on. I’m going to use this weekend to make some of those tough decisions.

Mike Futter: I’ll be spending my weekend with my gaming laptop playing Papers, Please, and my portable systems. I’m strongly considering a purchase of Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, but I’ve also still got some time to spend with Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. I’m rounding out my Top 10 list, so I want to get as many experiences in as possible.

Katie Seville: This weekend I’ll be playing tons of Skyrim! Again! I’m working through the Stormcloak quest-line for the first time, and thinking about trying the Dawnguard DLC again, since I’ve only ever been on the side of the vampires before. I’m also playing Pokémon Y still, and working through A Link to the Past before starting A Link Between Worlds.

Mike Trinh: On this freezing weekend, I will be huddled up in my room, playing Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. I’m glad I found it cheap on Black Friday because it’s a very fun game that I might not have played otherwise. Any spare time will be occupied by the thought of warmth.

Isaac Perry: I hope to make it home without falling on my face on account of the ice. Just one time would be perfect. I’ll be toying around with Little Inferno. I’ve saved the game for a time like this – to keep me occupied with the thought of warmth.
